One day at Deep Creek Hot Springs

Those who enjoy a short walk can take about 45 minutes, Deep Creek Hot Springs is an ideal place to be. Deep Creek Hot Springs is located south of the city of Hesperia, and is located on federal lands in San Bernardino National Forest. The hot pools are some fascinating rock outcrops, where the current makes a sharp turn towards the end of a ridge. The thermal water is clear and smells of sulfur. His exit temperature of the earth is over 100 degrees in the running in seven artificial soaking pools next to a creek that flows year.

To arrive at Deep Creek Hot Springs in the metropolitan Los Angeles, take Interstate 15 north to Hesperia. Bear Valley Road exit and travel to is approximately 10 miles to Central Road. Turn right at the CPU and 3 miles south of Ocotillo Way and turn left. Then go 2.3 miles to Bowen Ranch Road. Turn right (south) and continue an additional 6 miles to Bowen Ranch. Bowen Ranch is private land that lies just north of the shortest path National Forest (1.1 miles long) to the hot springs.

There is an entrance fee and a short drive to an area parking. A photocopy of a map of Deep Creek, is also provided. From the car park you reach the National Forest Hot Springs Road after a half-mile walk with a fall of 160 feet high. The national forest trail begins at an altitude of 4220 feet from the desert. During 1.1 mi walk that descends to an altitude of 3720 feet. At this point you are about 700 meters from the heat, but over the last 200 feet of a hill overlooking their destination. Hence, Most hikers choose to take the slope, the direct route of sand and slippery. However, if you want a safe route, you can follow a path in the west of the mountain, but the distance is almost double.

If you're in the weird type of adventure, many take this walk wearing the costume Adam - ie, completely naked. Is not only permissible, but by custom some hikers do that, but, of course, are those who have not a lot of courage and by chance you can find some of them and that includes myself.

On the way to the dock, is passed through the brushes, so if you intend to walk naked in the care attentionJ with ripe fruit can get other unwelcome. Be sure to wear sunscreen or not do in the summer. Near the banks of the brush is transformed into the shade of trees and vegetation along the creek. Springs are located on the opposite side cold stream width, which is several feet deep. After having waded into the cold stream, which can be very cold, a few minutes to let your body get cold before plunging into the hot springs to avoid temperature shock. The water is so relaxing and says it's therapeutic.

No camping is allowed at night near the creek to decide to leave early before night fell. The return journey will take about double the time to go to sources and that this time will be a climb to the top Back to Bowen Ranch. However, Deep Creek Hot Springs is certainly the best of its kind in the Southwest. Enjoy!
